But just as she begins to find her feet, the secrets of her past are revealed. She is swiftly dismissed but not before she becomes the target of a lascivious groom. And even afterwards she is pursued by Hungerton, an evil old man who wishes to send her back to the gutters.
She returns home to Hedderby, only to find the small Lancashire town reeling after the arson attack on the local pub and music hall, The Pride. Her only ally is a talented carpenter, also once employed by Hungerton. His former employer will stop at nothing, however, to bring him back to the estate. Will money buy revenge and destroy two lives, or will the young lovers find a way to achieve their dreams?

Couldn’t believe there could be another ‘baddy’ but you nailed it Anna and with Anne Dover as narrater it’s just a fantastic winning formula. Couldn’t stop listening but didn’t want it to end either. Looking forward to the next in this series which is my favourite of all the various series I have listened to.

Really enjoyed this book a lot. This is another fantastic series by this author and I feel really invested in the characters lives. I loved Gwynna and Lukus story and it was also lovely to have Maria appear more along with Izak and Kerry. Jeramy was also a wonderful character and I loved the way he was so determined to help Maria and her children. I love the fact we have a mix of great and nasty characters as it makes for interesting reading. I'll be sorry when i've read book 4 to see the end of this series.
Will be sad to say good bye to these characters.
