Summary

During the third week of February 1944, the combined Allied air forces launched their first-ever round-the-clock bomber offensive against Germany.

The aim was to smash the main factories and production centres of the Luftwaffe and draw the German fighter force up into the air and into battle. Officially called Operation ARGUMENT, this monumental air assault very quickly became known simply as Big Week.

Following the fortunes of pilots, aircrew and civilians from both sides, Big Week is a blistering narrative of one of the most critical periods of the entire war, one that culminated in the largest air battle ever witnessed.

What a great book, informative about the air battle by bomber command in the lead up to D Day. If you watched Masters of the Air then this book will add to that tv show.

Absolutely thrilling telling of contemporary diary accounts from the Pilots and Ground Crews who served in the many Squadrons during WW2. This book covers ‘Big Week’ when more sorties were flown by more crews than at any other time in the War. Both US, British, Allied and German diary accounts are used to give you an excellent image of what actually happened over the skies of Germany and Occupied Europe before Normandy D-Day. It’s absolutely amazing, saddening and thrilling to listen to and I would highly recommend it !
