About this listen
Paradox: Lost in Time is a time travel adventure from 3-time Hugo-nominee John L. Flynn.
Thomas Knyvett, a secret agent, is assigned to hunt down a renegade historian and members of his team, and terminate them with extreme prejudice before they change history by altering a single event in the past.
He doesn’t know when and where they are, and must employ all of his training and experience as an agent to complete his mission. A major complication is a traitor at mission control who may stop him from succeeding. All the suspense and intrigue, action and adventure, humor and mystery that listeners have come to enjoy in Flynn’s other books are right here in his latest science fiction thriller…
“You still haven’t told me what this is all about.”
Caroline Avery took a deep breath, and replied, “I need you to kill a man. I believe the euphemism you guys in covert operations use is terminate with extreme prejudice.”
“Who’s the target?” Thomas Knyvett asked.
She felt a stab of annoyance, but her face remained expressionless as she turned back to him. “A historian.”
“Terminate…a historian?”
“He’s not just any man,” Avery explained. “Dr. Johnston is one of the most brilliant psychopaths I’ve ever met. He’s stolen an experimental temporal device, and he’s out there, operating without any restraint or respect for the laws of physics. Our greatest concern, given his propensity for violence and his need to exercise great authority and power, is that he will attempt to change the course of history by altering a single event in the past.”
“What are my orders?” Knyvett queried.
“Your mission is to pick up Johnston’s path, infiltrate his team by whatever means available, and terminate the doctor’s command.”
“Where can I find him?”
“We really don’t know,” she confessed, with a deep, heartfelt sigh. “Ancient Rome? Elizabethan England? Nazi Germany? He could be anywhere along the infinite corridors of time and space…”
