Great book. Really enjoying listening to this series after reading it a couple of years ago. Narration on the first three books was brilliant. This one is still good but the narrator has inexplicably changed several of the character voices which spoils it somewhat.

Slow, but key.....

What does Roy Dotrice bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Some simply fantastic accents!
I'm a big fan of Dotrice, and I think he portrays so many characters brilliantly!

Any additional comments?

Sets the story up well for Dance with Dragons. Just don't expect a gripping listen - as the earlier books were...

Great story however as someone who is going through all the GOT audio books the character voices changing is a little annoying. Overall I enjoyed it.

Great story as expected, George Martin delivers again. Shame about the narration. Mispronouncing names and words, often putting emphasis on the wrong word in a sentence. This did spoil my enjoyment at times. Some of the accents used made me cringe.

May Roy Dotrice RIP but the narration at times is unlistenable. Giving characters speech impediments, adding words or missing them out. I had to skip a chapter as he gave a character a sniff bordering on influenza. Unacceptable and totally unbecoming of such an amazing series. Who hires these hams?
