Raised by a conman who owned Manhattan’s most expensive brothel and hung out with mobsters, Jamison learned early on how to deal with criminals. In 1991, at twenty-four, he struck out for Moscow and founded a law firm. Jamison lived in the maelstrom that was Russia, defending himself and his clients against mafia, corrupt police, and armed commandos. He was threatened, surveilled, extorted—and forced to raid his own offices with a private SWAT team and bug the offices of the Russian police just to survive. Jamison was at the center of Russia’s most explosive scandals. He employed Sergei Magnitsky, whose exposure of the largest tax theft in Russian history led to his imprisonment, torture, and murder. Jamison joined Bill Browder and teamed up with Alexei Navalny to expose Magnitsky’s killers and take their blood money. Along the way he inspired Navalny to make videos exposing corruption and started a war with Putin over sanctioning Russia’s most powerful people. Jamison is a sanctions and human rights lawyer based in London, focused on utilising Russia's frozen assets for Ukraine.
